SS25 Collection in Calpe

Calpe draws pros for good reason. Famous climbs like Coll de Rates and Val d’Ebo get the spotlight, but the hills above the Costa Blanca offer more than just popular routes. The Vall de Laguar is one of them, quiet roads, sharp gradients, and winding stretches to find your flow. Julian and Eva call it one of their favourites in the region. A route that balances effort with reward, and challenges you to ride smooth, not just hard.

A climb that asks for focus, patience, and legs that don’t quit.

We rolled out of Orba early. The road was quiet, shaded in parts, climbing gently past stone houses and orange trees. We rode in sync, not chasing speed—just steady effort. Campell came quickly. Then Fleix. Then Benimaurell. The villages passed in silence, tucked into the hillside, each one marking a step deeper into the climb.

The gradients never shouted. They crept in—5%, then 7%, then long stretches that held over 10%. The final hairpins twisted tightly, stacked one after another, with short punches over 15% that forced us out of the saddle.

No cars. No signs. Just turns and more turns. We didn’t talk much. We didn’t need to. This was the kind of ride that strips things back. No goals, no numbers—just movement, balance, and the quiet satisfaction of pushing through.

At the top, the view opened wide. Behind us, the full line of the climb. In front, the first glimpse of the coast. We didn’t rush the descent. Some roads ask you to slow down. This was one of them.
